John Guthrie, ABB

John Guthrie is UK Energy Efficiency Manager for ABB's low voltage drives business, exploring innovative ways to save energy and money through the application of variable speed drives. Following a successful career as an electrical engineer in the merchant navy, John joined ABB in 2003, supporting ABB's power quality and variable speed drive businesses

The role included support of ABB's authorized value providers and assisting many customers and applications in the energy efficiency field. This culminated in the DriveSave programme, a programme to help large energy users install variable speed drives, plant-wide, on a risk and reward basis.

With the influx of renewable energy and with National Grid requiring the help of aggregators and large energy consumers to ensure the UK can reach it’s green goals, Wayne’s invaluable knowledge and expertise have secured him a spot as one of the industry’s  authoritative voices on the topics.
