TH Plastics appoints Gary Colgan as their new Engineering Manager

Thanks to TH Plastics' continued success and rapid customer growth, TH Plastics are delighted to announce that Gary Colgan has joined the team as their newest member. Gary has taken on the role as our Engineering Manager. Due to his wealth of experience in the plastics industry, his professional approach, and his reactive problem-solving abilities we knew he would be the perfect fit for the role.

Gary kick started his career 24 years ago working as a maintenance apprentice. He specialised in injection moulding, working on a wide variety of machinery such as Krauss Maffei, Demag, Wittmann Battenfeld, and Husky. After this Gary served as a Service engineer, which gave him further invaluable experience with machinery and various processes. It was also in this role where he developed a strong understanding of customer relations due to being the client-facing representative for the company on site. He has a vast understanding in a variety of areas, including turnkey solutions for the injection moulding process, robots, automation, and material handling systems. In Gary’s last role he led a team of engineers, reacting to production breakdowns and planned maintenance activities. He is no stranger to working in a busy environment and thrives under pressure.

When asked what attracted him to TH Plastics Gary responded ‘’As soon as I met with Ash and Jonathan the attraction to the company was immediate, I loved the family feel of the company and the positive mindset. I was drawn into the collaborative culture, significant positive impact, and overall approach to employee wholeness. In addition, I like TH Plastics culture of trust, and the opportunity to get back out to site to see customers really excites me.’’

How have you found your first couple of weeks at TH Plastics ‘’Mind boggling! No, it’s been great, I have been welcomed with such a warm reception from everybody and I can see TH has a great professional team. I’ve loved being able to get back out and see people on site and start forming relationships.’’

What are your future plans at TH Plastics ‘’I plan on continuing to build the customer relations and rapport on site. In my experience knowledge is key. I plan on strengthening the engineering abilities to ultimately give a better service. I believe in building a team, giving the engineers development opportunities and being able to grow as individuals. I will be setting the standards high and implementing changes to improve efficiency across the team’’

What is Gary like away from work ‘’ I have a young growing family which I devote most of my spare time to. I am heavily involved with my wife and daughters’ passion for horses. When I am not at the farm, I am a huge motorbike fan and try my best to get out on the track as much as possible.’’

When General Manager Ash Seddon was asked about Gary this was his response: ‘’Gary has settled in well in his first couple of weeks. We are very happy to have Gary as part of the team. He is a competent professional in the plastics industry and very well respected by his peers. He has an exceptional skillset and takes great pride in his work. His organisational skills and his ability to implement improvements will be fundamental in the growth of the business. He is going to be a great asset to our growing team.’
