What does your company do?
Pentagon Plastic is a well-established Plastic Injection Moulder and Toolmaker providing bespoke technical thermoplastic components to a variety of industry sectors. With a depth of experience in the processing of high engineering grades of thermoplastics we are able to take your project from concept though to repeat production and beyond.
Our services include Design assistance, Development, Toolmaking, Injection Moulding and Post Moulding operations. Our injection moulding services span a range of industry sectors including Aerospace, Marine, Security, Medical and Construction.
Our moulding presses are stepped up in size from 22-280 tonne to ensure that tools can be run in a selection of machines allowing us flexibility with scheduling and ensure that we can always meet required production lead times.
In 2016 Pentagon Plastics acquired Phoenix Engineering to form the Pentagon Plastics Group. This has enabled us to enhance our tooling services and offer solutions from basic modular insert tooling all the way through to complex multi-cavity tooling and suites of tools.
What is unique about your company?
We pride ourselves on being one of the few UK Plastic Injection Moulders who offer a fully operational on-site toolroom. Across our two sites we have 16 skilled toolmakers and two apprentice toolmakers producing bespoke tooling solutions.
Toolmaking is an essential element to support the injection moulding service. Our many years of experience allow us to advise our customers on the most suitable tooling option for the intended product. Mould Tool selection is a crucial phase of any plastic injection moulding project in relation to both cost and functionality.
Selecting the correct tooling option for a project can influence the overall success of the project, which is why having our toolmakers and mould setters on one site allows all parties involved in production to work together from the early stages of a project right through to production of the finished component.
How long have you been a member of the BPF?
We have been a member of the BPF since January 2016
What do you like most about being a member of the BPF?
The BPF provides a fantastic platform for knowledge sharing and raising the industry profile, allowing smaller businesses like our own to have a bigger voice and become part of a larger organisation.
We have received extensive media coverage and been given the opportunity to showcase our business though hosting an exclusive members event covering the ever relevant topic of the industry skills gap.
We are signed up to Operation Clean Sweep, an international initiative to reduce plastic pellet loss in the environment as well as the SIMPL initiative (Safety in manufacturing plastics) both further enhancing our positive involvement in industry on a wider scale and giving us access to relevant information that can enhance our business processes, staff welfare and our environmental impact.
It is difficult to pin point just one thing that we feel is the most beneficial as there are so many layers and opportunities within the membership scheme.
Did you get any sales lead through the BPF?
Yes, we have received some excellent sales leads through the BPF. Relevant leads come through on a regular basis from the BPF allowing us to independently filter out those most relevant to our scope of service.
