The BPF supports Energy Climate Week

The BPF was present at the Government’s launch of Climate Week earlier today at Lancaster House, London. Climate Week aims to ‘shine a spotlight’ on a range of positive steps being taken in workplaces and communities across Britain to tackle Climate change.

Peter Davis, Director-General of the BPF said, “The Plastics Industry is taking actions to prevent Climate Change. Our BPF Climate Change Agreement run by BPF Energy saved 122,000 tonnes of Carbon by the end of last year by tough energy reduction measures in 262 plastics manufacturing sites. There are more energy reduction achievements to come this year.”

Additionally the BPF and its partners in the Plastics 2020 Challenge are this year, in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), supporting their “Bottle Champions” plastics bottle recycling scheme in 240 primary schools.

Peter Davis said, “The Bottle Champions campaign aims to encourage children and their parents not to litter plastic bottles but ensure they are recycled.

“Plastic products are making a substantial contribution to energy saving, whether it be light weighting cars, aircraft and packaging or buildings insulation materials and double glazing,” added Davis.
