UK REACH Registration Deadline Extension

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have launched a consultation to extend the transitional registration deadlines for UK REACH.

Due to the delay in response to the Alternative Transitional Registration model (ATRm), DEFRA are consulting to allow more time to implement the findings from that consultation first.

This proposal will look to extend the transitional UK REACH deadlines originally set for 2026, 2028, and 2030 (dependant on tonnage bands). The three extension options under consideration are:

  • Option 1: October 2029, October 2030, October 2031 (preferred by government)
  • Option 2: April 2029, April 2031, April 2033
  • Option 3: April 2029, April 2030, April 2031

The draft BPF response is available HERE (log in required) for your consideration.

Members are ensouraged to to amend and comment on this draft. The BPF are also encouraging members to submit your individual responses too and if you are happy with our response, send an email to DEFRA supporting our submission.

The consultation is open until 8 September 2025.  In order to allow the BPF to have enough time to incorporate members comments, please share your feedback to us by COB on Friday 5th September.
