UK SCALE Centre to Share Supply Chain Sustainability Insights with British Plastics Federation Members
Friday, 15 May 2026
The UK Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) Centre at Loughborough University is strengthening engagement with the British Plastics Federation (BPF) as part of its mission to support more resilient, sustainable and productive supply chains across UK industry.
Founded by Loughborough University in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Transportation & Logistics, UK SCALE is the UK’s national centre for supply chain innovation, research and talent development, and part of the MIT Global SCALE Network.
Bringing together academic expertise, industry collaboration and real-world challenge-led research, the Centre works with organisations across manufacturing, logistics and supply chain sectors to help address increasingly complex operational and sustainability challenges.
As part of this growing engagement with the BPF, Professor Donato Masi, Professor of Supply Chain Management at Loughborough University and a member of the UK SCALE Centre academic team, will deliver a guest presentation at the BPF Sustainability Committee meeting on 11 June 2026 at Loughborough University.
The session will explore the evolving role of supply chains in supporting sustainability ambitions, including how organisations can better balance resilience, productivity and environmental performance in increasingly uncertain operating environments.
From geopolitical disruption and changing regulations to the growing pressure for greater transparency and decarbonisation, businesses are facing mounting demands across their supply chains. UK SCALE’s work focuses on helping organisations navigate these challenges through applied research, innovation and collaboration.
The collaboration also opens wider opportunities for future engagement between the UK SCALE Centre and BPF members through knowledge exchange, industry discussions and potential future events focused on supply chain innovation and sustainability.
