UKTI invites export explorers to meet the market experts

Businesses in London keen to exploit the growth opportunities in global markets can tap into the expertise of trade specialists from around the world when a roadshow organised by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) comes to the region next month.

The touring “ExploreExport 2011” event is the biggest yet, bringing around 70 commercial officers from UK diplomatic posts in more than 50 overseas markets to Chelsea Football Club, Stamford Bridge, London, on 27 June.

Commercial officers (COs), many of them locally engaged foreign nationals, are an integral part of UKTI’s overseas network, offering sound advice based on experience and up-to-date knowledge of their markets.

Companies can book in advance up to four one-to-one meetings with COs from specific countries, whether they are seeking:

• information on current business opportunities;
• tips on business practices and cultural attitudes – and potential pitfalls;
• details of and access to relevant contacts;
• introduction to UKTI in-market services; or
• news about forthcoming international activities and events.

The roadshow event will also feature presentations on key markets Russia, Turkey and the USA, delivered by COs based in those countries; an overview of UKTI services; and an informative talk from courier DHL on their role in the export market.

Parveen Thornhill, UKTI International Trade Director for London, added: “The event provides a valuable opportunity for SMEs to speak face to face with UKTI experts based in export markets, including the high-growth economies of the Far East, Middle East and Latin America. Through these meetings and workshops, delegates will gather critical intelligence and information that will help them access the enormous potential in these exciting markets.”

The London ExploreExport event is part of a week-long Explore Tour that will also see the visiting commercial officers in Bristol, Coventry, Harrogate and Duxford.
