UL Solutions tests plastic materials, virgin, recycled or biobased, to find out when they would burn, how they would react to ignition sources (thermal and electrical), and how they would hold up under long term exposure to elevated temperatures, water, ultraviolet light, cold, and other extreme conditions. The testing can be conducted on samples prepared by ‘traditional’ methods, like injection molding, or on samples prepared by Additive Manufacturing.

A product that earns the UL Mark meets the highest standards of performance. To connect plastics manufacturers with their customers, and to give their customers the power to make informed decisions, UL publishes those materials that have met our standards on UL Product iQ®.

For manufacturers, UL Product iQ® puts their products in front of ten thousands registered users who “shop” the database for materials certified by UL for use in their applications. For plastics buyers, UL Product iQ® provides easy access to valuable information on all grades of UL recognised plastics, as well as links to the manufacturers’ service sites. Buyers can search by product specifications, company name, file name, generic family, grade, description as well as sustainability attributes.
