Vince Cable MP sends BPF Congratulations on its 80th

Secretary of State for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Dr Vince Cable MP has sent congratulations to the British Plastics Federation on its 80th Anniversary, as the World’s first Plastics Association.
Dr Cable writes that “The BPF represents a sector that continues to be of strategic importance to the economy of the UK. ...plastics are essential to much of our manufacturing and distributive sectors and underpin the success of many sectors”.
Dr Cable acknowledges plastics role in light weighting vehicles, aircraft and packaging.
“Today the properties of plastic make it a key contributor to the low carbon agenda”.
He states the Plastics Industry is “highly innovative and successful”.
He commends the BPF for taking plastics companies, with UKTI support to overseas growth markets:
“I am also very pleased that the BPF is so active in overseas markets”.
Peter Davis Director-General of the British Plastics Federation said:
“We are delighted to receive this strong endorsement of the UK Plastics Industry and the BPF from Dr Vince Cable MP”.
