Youth Debate the Role of Plastics and Sustainability
Tuesday, 3 November 2009
Meanwhile, the grand final of the PlasticsEurope Youth Parliament debates for 2009 will be held in Rome. The winners from national debates in eight European countries will meet in the Parlamentino of Villa Borghese – an occasion that brings together young people to debate sustainability and the role of plastics.
The Youth Parliament concept was introduced in 2007. This year saw debates in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Turkey. The debates are always opened by two experienced experts who set the tone for the panels. After that, four students present the pro arguments of the role of plastics and another four stand up for the antis.
This year’s venue of Rome was chosen as the venue for the finale as it is the city where the treaties establishing the European Community were signed in 1957.
