A complete set of first editions, third, second and first impressions of the three books comprising'The Lord of the Rings'. The Fellowship of the Ring.

First edition, third impression in a third impression dust jacket (George Allen and Unwin, 1955). Originally published six months earlier in July 1954.

Publisher's original red cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Red top stain is faded with previous owner name to front endpaper, a near fine copy otherwise with the rear folding map still present. The original dust jacket has a small closed tear to top edge of lower panel with some chipping and small tears to spine ends, spine panel very slightly toned but still bright - very good indeed.

First edition, second impression in a second impression dust jacket (George Allen and Unwin, 1955). Very good or a little better with browning to front and rear endpapers and a small previous owner name to front endpaper; red top stain faded; rear folding map still present and contents lovely and clean throughout.

The original and unclipped dust jacket has a couple of closed tears to upper panel and a few much smaller nicks elsewhere to edges; spine panel nice and clean with only minor toning - very good overall. The Return of the King. First edition, first impression (George Allen and Unwin, 1955), with sagging text and number 4 to bottom of page 49, in the first issue dust jacket with no reviews to rear flap.

One or two isolated and light marks to boards with faint offsetting to front endpaper; red top stain a little faded; rear folding map still present; free from previous owner names and inscriptions and contents nice and clean throughout. The original and unclipped dust jacket is better than very good with just a few small nicks and chips to extremities and slight toning and fading to spine panel.
