A lovely set, average condition jackets, above average books. These early impressions are increasingly hard to find without much more wear and tear, especially to the jackets. As time goes on the average condition coming to the market gets worse. When we refer to average, we mean condition that is likely to come onto the market, not reference to new conditions which is pointless.

The better sets continually go into collections and never come out. Waiting for the better set at a cheaper price, will not happen.

The jackets on this set is more worn than our previous sets, thus the lower asking price. Uniform wear to the dust jackets and books which is important to the aesthetics as a set. We recently added a 1st edition TT.

Impressions 1, 1, 1 of the three books (in title order). All three jackets are similar, un-restored condition, fading to spine titles and overall colour darkening especially to spines, slight tattering and paper loss to spine ends, TT has paper loss to the spine head corners, RotK spine heel has a 1/4 inch paper loss and a closed tear to the seam.

FotR has small; faded reddish stain to front cover, but the jacket has less tattering to the spine ends. There are no tape marks or other pink stains, often caused by bleed from the book covers due to damp. Slight lean to all three books, though bindings tight.

No damp stains or foxing or other unusual marks. Spine title gilt is still bright on all books. This is the least expensive set you will likely find in original collectible condition, without repairs and restoration. There are other sets on the market with more wear and damage to the jackets. Keep in mind when comparing most of the value is in the dust jacket condition, not the books, thus more wear to the dust jackets seriously reduces the overall value.

It is likely this more affordable set will sell quickly, don't delay. We will still be accepting orders the whole time. Nearly all of our items are one-of-a-kind, when they sell, its gone.
