A luxury edition of the world's most collectable book, printed on Bible paper, bound in cloth and leather, and set in a cloth-bound slipcase. Published by HarperCollins in 1997, limited to a world wide printing of 1000 copies, this edition is based on the reset edition first published in 1994. Working for the publisher at the time this copy never hit the shelves. Images in the listing are pretty detailed.
This deluxe edition contains the complete text of the revised Second Edition, first published in 1994. Quarterbound in black leather and cloth and protected in its own slipcase, the book is printed on fine India paper, making it much slimmer than its standard hardback counterpart. The book includes Christopher Tolkien's two-colour maps of Middle-earth and Gondor as endpapers. This copy has been in my possession since 1997(first owner) It has been sealed up in original plastic. On removing the book from it's slipcase it appears a small amount of the paper liner of the slipcase has adhered to the cloth cover of the book leaving a small blemish.
