If you look at the covers, you will recognize their style in a heartbeat. In 2003, in conjunction with Harper Collins and Houghton Mifflin, a new edition of The Lord of the Rings was released as a boxed gift set with all three books housed in a handsome slipcase, as is offered here, lavishly illustrated in full color by Alan Lee. Each book is complete and unabridged containing the fully authorized and fully updated text with all of the misprints and corrections made over the years and is the most faithful to the author's original intent, and in a typographical sense, the most near-to-perfect text of the Lord of the Rings ever to appear in print, especially with regard to Tolkien's nomenclatures and invented languages. The books in the set are truly a sight to behold. Each book is roughly 8"x10" and printed on beautiful glossy white paper and fit into a matching slipcase. It has all of the original maps included and Lee's artwork makes this a must have for any collector! This is one of many unusual editions I have listed this week along with the other dozens of items including many early printings. Sets of multiples count as one.
